There Is a Road — December, 2013 There is a road, The will of God A daunting road, which must be trod Tis neither easy, or impossible Do not resist it’s steady pull. This road is part of heaven’s call To strip off weights and offer all To say, “Yes, Lord, I’ll run for You.” To set your face and follow through. You cannot look to left or right You cannot travel in the night You cannot stop along the way You cannot join in others’ play You cannot want another’s race You cannot change your steady pace You cannot stop when others fail You cannot leave your assigned trail For just around the coming curve A young man prays who you will serve The answer to his prayer you’ll be Another soul will be set free And just atop the waiting rise Awaits a woman needing eyes You’ll pause a moment, speak a word Her eyes will open, when she’s heard And as you travel on this road You catch up some with heavy load You’ll bear their burden, share their pain And then be on your way again. Now this long road will ask of you A fierce resolve, to follow through To move along in sun or storm To carry on, when fit or torn Don’t ever fear, do not despair You’ll always feel the Master’s care You’ll know His power and His grace You will not fail in heaven’s race. So still your heart and set your face Strengthen legs and set your pace This daunting road, it must be trod This road that’s called, The Will of God.
