There are a lot of things that Broadway Joe Namath does - TopicsExpress

There are a lot of things that Broadway Joe Namath does excellently. Accurately predict his own playoff success. Stir up controversies on the sideline when he attends games. And wax so poetically about Derek Jeter that you’d think it was Robert Frost talking about a newborn animal. Namath was at training camp on Saturday to act as the Yankees unofficial co-manager for their game against the Washington Nationals. When asked about Jeter, Namath said perfectly, “Knowing the scrutiny that he’s had over the years, I can’t imagine how the guy could be an angel like this. He is to be respected for every phase of his life. Many of us fell short with some of that, but we learned to bounce back. It is human to err . . . and I know about that. We do our best to come back. Derek hasn’t made many errors that I’ve been able to witness.” Jeter’s smiling response? “It puts a lot of pressure on me.” There will be a time and a place for all of us to share our feelings about Jeter. But for now, this quote from Namath will have to do because really, what more is there to say? Broadway Joe hit the nail on the head, and beautifully at that. For now, there is nothing else to say.
