There are all kinds of sparks to get a creative fire going. It could be a song, or something you see during the day, or a conversation. Paper and textures spark my creativity often. For the fire to really get going though, there has to be oxygen…so that means I’ll have to breath into this tiny idea that suddenly appears as a result of being inspired. And as the flame gains size, it will need some kind of fuel to keep it going. That fuel is what I DO with the idea…if I am painting, the fuel that feeds the creative fire is the paint I put on canvas; if I’m writing it’s the words on the page. A creative fire needs the initial spark, but it also needs my breath and it needs me to create the fuel to keep it going.
