There are calls on social media to call off all street protests until after the local elections on March 30th. I wonder what people think about this, and whether this will happen. The reasoning behind this call is the widespread belief that the police and groups of fanatical armed thugs have been ordered to deliberately provoke those protesting into violence in self defence in order to justify some sort of imposition of martial law. And that calling more protests before the elections is only playing into their hands. I wonder what people think. What if fanatical mobs attack Alevi neighborhoods? Given memories of Sivas and other massacres, such neighborhoods have legitimate fears and need support of general society. Im inclined to think that calling off mass protests untill after the elections is probably a wise move.
