There are days when the sublime simplicity of it all suddenly comes sharply into focus. A wonderful morning of worship spent with some incredible people down in Stratford yesterday and then an evening singing, sharing and helping to make a difference with two ‘fathers of the faith’ in Wombourne. Prior to yesterday, all Wombourne meant to me was a place where I used to go to buy wine from a local vineyard. I was reminded, in the midst of the meeting, just how different my Sunday evenings are now, since I welcomed the Lord into my life. It’s not about politics, or pretence, or pride, or power – it’s about setting aside our own agendas, looking beyond our own selfish strategies and doing what we can to alleviate the sadness, suffering and confusion of others. By looking outwards, we are doing far more for our own inner selves than we could ever imagine. Within the walls of Kingsway church, in the inspiring presence of Pastor John and Judith Price, together with a man from whom I have learned so much about my faith, I was amazed and encouraged to be reminded that everyone of us….even me….can come alongside others, if only for a short while as they journey on, and offer some comfort, based on our own beliefs and experiences
