There are few things in my life that make me feel more capable and intelligent than fixing my own computer. Since Ive always had a used PC or laptop, Ive always needed to be clever, read directions, resolve conflicts, up and downgrade software and hardware. It relates to being fearless about messing something up; I do a lot of backups to external hard drive and by the time I get a computer its long past its warranty expiration. If I cant fix it myself, I cant use it. Voila.
