There are gross violations of the attorney-client privilege going on in this country. Incarcerated defendants who, together with their lawyers, are preparing defenses to pending criminal charges, must be very careful what they communicate via jail email to their lawyers. The government has no respect for the attorney-client privilege. They want to know your legal defense strategy. Do not write or say anything over a jailhouse computer or telephone that you do not want the government to read or hear. Loved ones are not exempt. Family members and friends who communicate via email or telephone with incarcerated defendants must also understand that these communications are being closely monitored by prosecutors.
