There are many branches of knowledge that have autonomous credibility and are judged purely by the discipline itself rather than the people practicing it. Science for example is not judged by how individual scientists perform experiments, nor would anyone criticize science because of inaccurate experiments performed by some scientists; rather, we judge the individual scientist, not the discipline of science. If this is true, then why should we judge any religion when wrongful acts are committed in its name by individuals claiming to be its followers? Likewise, Islam should not be judged by the actions of some Muslims; rather those Muslims should be judged by the ethos promulgated by Islam. First-hand knowledge of Islam through its sources is the key to reach the truth.
