There are many mighty emperors in the land of Nigeria, known for their opportunistic courage, greed and valour. There are magnificently powerful and rich, people trembled with fear whenever they appear, whatever they wished, they snatched by force. They won innumerable political wars against their fellows, subduing every citizens to submission, yet they are more thirsty for dominion. Jewels and gems; golds and diamonds, women, palaces, auto-mobile and wine flowed for them like rivers. Yet, nothing appease their insatiable apathetic selves. Still, there is something they can never possess through reigns of their political terror and through their braggadocio money fame. That is the collective will of the people not to be cowed forever ! Let them rule on thousands in every region of Nigerias plain, directions too even seems to know about these despotic rulers and they bowed. No matter how they play god, their hearts must miss contentment or the mental of inner peace. I vividly remembered prevalent folk tale among Ukwuani speaking people. One day the emperors saw young people walking naked on feet and on hot ground. Surprised and shocked to see, the emperors summoned them. The people silently appeared in the emperors courts, courteous and silent like a revered soul. The people smiled and wished the emperors happiness and long life. When the people asked the reason for their presence, the lost emperors asked, what makes you people smile, even when you have nothing in life ? The pious souls replied, we have the richest jewel inside us that sparkles when we share and identify with one another- in their joy and pains. It is priceless and precious, it is Gods peace of minds. It is when we care for our fellow human beings that we have contentment in our hearts. It is because we loved ourselves, and we are willing to serve mankind. When the emperors saw the survival instinct in our lives, the mighty emperors had tears in their eyes. The emperors knew from the moment that they were lost in the world of their selfishness. The moment changed their lavish lives, the lost emperors got a reason to smile and they started serving their fellows, treating everybody as their own parents, children, and relatives. Spreading the light of happiness and preached love and peace amongst the humans. They lived in heaven on earth. How I wished Nigerians could be like that, writing this golden pages in our chequered political history; with the eternal word of love and compassion for ourselves and others. That will invariably shone through our fulfilling destiny. How I wish we all are like the Balewas, Azikiwes, Awolowos, et alii. How I wished that your name will be mine, and mine yours. Our souls could hath stopped the bloodshed and aftermath of the gruesome war of ethnic, religious and sects wars, which killed millions of people from the day of our national birth over a hundred years ago. Today we are flooded with news of blood and tears, floating bodies, amputated fears, gory and wrath which ought not to be our portion. Wars of any kind can never bring peace and will always bring more bloodshed. Nigeria starves for peace and every state today is devoid of the peace and harmony which should be their main motto and country. But remember that because of our gluttonous lifestyles these precious lives and their futures were unnecessary wasted. Good morning, my family and friends, lets reflect and live peacefully !
