There are many reasons why Saint Louis -- the city I live in and love -- has gone from the fourth largest city in the country to the twenty-seventh in the last century, and a lot of them are beyond our control. However, we are truly doomed if the citys first response to economic innovators is to shut them down in favor of vested interests. If we want to see half a million people calling the city home again; if we want to compete with Chicago or even Nashville and Louisville; if we want to be a vibrant, metropolitan city; we have to empower individuals to experiment and innovate as much as humanly possible. Our history is beautiful and substantial, but we cant cling to outmoded ways. As much as we may yearn for the eras of the steam boat and street cars, those days are gone, and they will not come again. A successful future for Saint Louis will have to be built on something new. stltoday/news/local/govt-and-politics/nick-pistor/st-louis-judge-orders-lyft-app-to-be-disabled-in/article_39b51215-7f75-545f-b763-f2b61a142cb8.html
