There are many safe methods for getting rid of dandelions and other weeds. Im wondering how many people in this town have used tried and true methods passed down in their families. Also, does anyone have recipes they would like to share using other common *weeds* such as stinging nettles, dandelions, roots, berries, fungus or leaves of plants that we no longer cultivate? Or medicinal uses that we may not know of. Canada has a wealth of healthy and tasty plants and shrubs that we really need to get familiar with as our forefathers once were. Not only could it save these plants if we begin to cultivate these plants again, but we just might save ourselves. We all know about the millions of medical miracle plants lost in the destruction of rain forests all over the world. Scientists, herbologists and medical practitioners have been scrambling to save as many as they can. Canadas forests, bogs, riverbanks, oceans, lakes and streams are a virtual gold mine of useful plants. There are at least 6 to 8 hundred documented and probably hundreds more. Chemical and pharmaceutical companies and governments would prefer we didnt know about them. At the rate that groceries are skyrocketing, these plants may be the perfect answer to providing healthy meals. I will post a recipe for dandelions to give this a jump start.
