There are many things about this story that are confusing--beginning with the headline. The Marietta Bible College isnt being ordered to deport anyone, they are no longer able to provide the vehicle for these foreign students to remain in the US legally because they didnt get re-certified. This story is making the rounds as a means of criticizing Obamas Executive Order because he is kicking out these Christians but letting all those immigrant families with citizen children not get deported. Which is a confusing rhetorical play all its own. Then there is the fact that, according to the school’s website, it “underwent the complete review process by Ohio board of Regents in 1988 and was offered State licensure. The license was refused, because of our Biblical conviction, that such acceptance would place the State in authority over the church, the rightful position of Jesus Christ only (Colossians 1:18). Therefore, this institution is not certified by the Board of Regents nor the State of Ohio.” I am confused how accepting licensure is bowing to the states authority but submitting for re-certification is not. There also does not seem to be any investigation into the states claim that the paperwork was not filed. Only a claim that the state must have lost it. What would they do if it had been an Islamic based school who couldnt prove they had filed the proper paperwork and Obamas government said, Sure, please stay here without the proper authority to do so, we trust your religion based school to have acted in good faith?
