Some of the major ones are on the income side of the taxation equation and include middle class welfare giftings such as Negative gearing, the absence of tax on supperannuation earnings, Fringe Benefits tax, first home owner grants, paid parental leave and the list can continue. Instead of addressing the income side of the equation, the incumbent government is only willing to address the expenditure side. If we can reduce our costs of education and hence our previously egalitarian access to education, rid ourselves of the intellectual property associated with scientific research we should be able to shrink our way to greatness.
