There are no words of comfort I can find to can adequately express how very sorry I am to the Tolbert family for the loss of their son. Where do you even begin? We were honored to have a group of Ivan’s friends at our home on Saturday evening, trying to cope in their own way with this tragic news. The right thing to say to each teen managed to stay elusive – it’s frightening, as a parent, as I’ve known so many of these kids since grade school. Be gentle with yourselves my young friends; honor your friend’s memory by remembering the fun times together. Lean on each other and draw from one another’s strengths…………..because that is what friends do. Death at such a young age is hard for anyone to understand, but find someone you trust to talk to. Opening up might help sort out the emotions you may be feeling. We care very much for all of you – life is precious – the best is yet to come.
