There are not enough tears left in me today, there are not enough - TopicsExpress

There are not enough tears left in me today, there are not enough good deeds today to make what I found out less hurtful, there is nothing that I can find that makes me feel like any of this made any sense. There is no community safe enough to protect us from evil when someone wants to hurt those that would work day-and-night to be a voice and save those that have no way to save themselves. I have been heart broken many times when we lost horses to slaughter. I have fought until my head feels like it is spinning around and around. I have donated money that I didnt really have to spare to save a horses life. I have painted paintings to help horses that needed surgery, that needed to be bailed out of a kill pen and gladly given the money to give that horse a second chance. I have friended nearly anyone that wanted to help our effort and I have met some of the most amazing and big-hearted people in the last 19-months since I found out that horses were being slaughtered in other countries for food. I have attended auctions to save horses, I have put my personal security at risk and I have taken in horses here at my home that nobody else wanted. I never have saved a horse that had other options. The horses I have here were sometimes only hours from loading onto a slaughter truck. They all had issues that kept them from being bailed by someone else. Some of them are OTTTBs that were tossed away like trash. One sweet teenage has been able to give one of them a second chance as an event horse. But besides Bella, most of the horses I have would love to have someone that wanted to just love on them more and I am working on getting more friends for them...but so many of you have also done the same as me...bailed out horses because your hearts were hurting and couldnt stop thinking about them. This is exactly what happened on Sunday as a dear soul wanted to save a nice grey gelding named Klamath that had been shipped to a packing facility in Washington. She was trying like crazy to get them to answer their phone and we were all online in our West Coast Equine Rescue Network trying and hoping we could save these dear soul. Michelle Bodenhorn got on the group post and said she had called and gotten through and the horse was pulled out along with two other geldings that could be saved. We were beyond thrilled and amazed. Klamath was getting a second chance...he had a home to go to not a ride to a horrific slaughter death. So, he was to be picked up on Monday or Tuesday. He had a place to be QT and the hauler was suppose to bring him to the place. The horse didnt get picked up by anyone...He was never safe and the owner of the packing facility didnt tell anyone he was. On Wednesday Klamath was shipped to slaughter in Canada. He is now dead and in a package to be sent to some scumbags in Europe that eat our horses. There was no need for this to happen. Michelle Bodenhorn is as evil and sick as anyone I have ever heard about and I cant figure out why anyone would do this. I have cried so much today since I heard and I know that Sabrina Connaughton is and was as shocked and devastated as the rest of us. Ansley Marlow, and nearly everyone of us that have sacrificed so much of our personal lives to rescue horses are beyond grief. Klamath I am as sorry for your death as I can be about any death. We see horses go to slaughter way too many times when they dont have anyone willing to bail them out or to take them on....but when a horse had a home and a loving person willing to do what it took to get him....this is beyond cruel...so...now you have the rest of the story. Horses dont belong in packages..they belong in pastures...Wild horses are being killed by record numbers and so many amazing people stepped up recently to save the foals...good people out number the bad...but sometimes it is impossible to figure out why someone does evil things and especially when it is aimed at voice less and innocent horses. CONGRESS you are also guilty of your failure to protect those that have made our nation great. Shame on you too for your failure to do what the 83 percent are demanding that you do!
