There are people that come in and out Of ones life. You never question it- I have a few of those special friends. The first one - is Sarah Gruber! our lives have been intertwined since birth. Our fathers were best friends dating back to the 1930s in Brooklyn . They both went to Townes/Harris and then each went to excel - my dad becoming the president of his dental class (46) and a third generation dentist and Sarahs dad - becoming a well known psychologist. Then there was the two offspring. The tall lanky brown haired from Leonia and then there was yours truly, the short overweight hippie wannabe . We saw each other a lot when we were younger, and then the visits were Fewer and fewer as the Grubers moved to Geneva..... Colorado and then NJ. The Karnoffs stayed in NYC. Excitement reared its head when when my father stated that the Grubers were coming to NYC . Then months turned into years-2 marriages , several children later, careers changed, parents death , I remain back in NYC , Sarah has relocated to NC and yet I have never felt closer. We talk on the phone, a pick up where we have left off. Its fascinating How far and how much we have in common ... our love for folk music, family , liberal politics and ultimately our fathers who met each other over 75 years ago. I am Forever grateful for howie Gruber and Elias Karnoff for blessing me with this most wonderful beautiful woman who I proudly can call my friend into my life.
