There are quite a few of these sorts of stories around: what its like when your joke goes viral on Twitter. Im trying to work out why theyre interesting. They often focus on the plagiarism aspect, but I doubt thats the core interest for people. The phenomenon is strange because while you may get a few hundred twitter followers, unless youre a comedian trying to build an audience theyre not relevant or useful followers. Theres no lasting fame or impact. The experience is just having a load of notifications come into your inbox. Of course, fundamentally its just because the experience is unusual and coveted. Im thinking there could be a service opportunity to help people better understand this kind of nano fame, either planning for it or coping with it. Im still really fascinated by what happened to the Flappy Bird guy.
