There are sections in the Hebrew Bible that do not seem to be in harmony with other parts of Scripture . For instance, the Torah ,which comprises the first five books of the Old Testament never mention the word RESURRECTION. Consequently, the Sadducees who were the biblical literalists of Jesus time, refused to believe in an afterlife. The Pharisees, on the other hand, did believe in resurrection, based on a freer interpretation of the Scriptures, Jesus of course taught us to hope for a a place in the Kingdom of Heaven. If anyone believes in me, even though he dies, will live ; he will never die (John 11:26: God calls us to test all Spirits. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God : And every spirit that confesseth, not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God : and this is that spirit of antichrist, wereof ye have heard that it should come and even now already us in the world. (1 John 4:2,3)
