There are still a few of us belonging to the "old school"who prefer to communicate with others thru the old way: paper, pen, envelope with stamps..This is the way we communicated then. It is so exciting to go to the Asingan Post Office to drop our letter. Takes about 2 weeks for the letter to travel, then another 2 weeks before we could get a reply. No computers then. We usually check the Pen Pal section of magazines ( Kislap, Bannawag, Free Press ) for friends...Yep, the Asingan Post office then was located then beside the Municipio on the right side. I still remember an old postman who delivered letters ON FOOT. His name was Celino ( God bless his soul ). At present, our mail in Asingan is delivered by a postie riding on a motor bike..But the funny thing is, last year we received only 1 piece of mail inside 6 months!..The bulk of our mail is still being dumped in 19 Dixon, bills, ads, solicitation letters and other kinds of mail garbage..How time flies and how things change with it!
