There are times in ones life when we suddenly feel humbled. Had a similar experience today when one of my CAT students - Utkarsh Jain - came to have a discussion on his next step in career. He has a job offer from a leading financial start up, promising him a 5.5 L package, and a sure promise of a great life in finance, and experience to enter IIMs. He also has a final convert from TISS - Indias No 1 socially inclined B School. Aware of his past participation and leadership positions in the social sector as a student of GITAM and even before, I was not at all surprised when he talked about his decision to enter TISS and later continue contributing to the social sector. His final goal in life being to enter education sector. One statement he made summed him for me I am not too crazy about becoming big - economically that is. I would like to make a big change however to the society. Clarity of goal, ability to back the goal with effort, and willingness to make short term sacrifices to finally reach the goal are the traits of a true leader of tomorrow.
