There has been a lot of backlash regarding early Christmas decorations and Remembrance Day. First of all, retailers have always started selling Christmas merchandise early, Im not sure why this is a problem, it is supply in demand and I know plenty of people who shop early. Second, my husband is a veteran and he and other military people (I asked him to ask others) have no issue with Christmas decor in shops and are happy to see poppy boxes on sales counters in these same places. Third, the men and women we are honouring on Remembrance Day sacrificed a whole lot so that we could celebrate our holidays just about any way we please. So, I think we can go shopping, see decorations, wear a poppy and take a minute of silence wherever we are at 11 am on the 11th without dishonouring anyone.
