There has been a number of comments made on the site regarding the management of Kenfig Common and the part played by a founder of this site who happens to be a BCBC Councillor. I would if I may like to set out my views on the subject. I am an acquaintance of Charles Smith and he is on my friends list here on facebook unfortunately our paths never crossed years back . The one thing we have in common is that we were born and raised in the area and played and know Kenfig well. I too have given 10 years of my life to being a Councillor here in Milford Haven and I know first hands the constraints that a Councillor has to work within. That does not alter personal feelings about a particular subject just the way in which you are allowed to influence. I have every faith in the integrity and honest approach that Charles Smith will bring to the table about any discussions that are organised on the future of the Dunes. His record on the passion exercised in the matter of Morfa Beach is well documented, a battle that was won thanks to the intervention of a group of which Charles Smith was chair. Personally I have every confidence that Charles will fight as well as anyone for the good of the Kenfig Common we all love. Some comments made regarding backhanders and brown envelopes are the ones that I find most offensive and as an admin of this site I shall take pleasure in removing them unless of course they are backed up by proof not just innuendo. I would say to those that are so quick to criticize, there is an easy solution and that is to put your name forward for election at the next opportunity. Give up your time in what is a thankless task. Although I no longer live in the area my children and grandchildren do, I was born and raised in Cornelly and spent my childhood playing on the Dunes that we all love so much I too am dismayed at the present condition of Kenfig with scrub and Birch that has been allowed to thrive there. I put my trust in the local people and trustees that will mean my family will be able to enjoy Kenfig in the foreseeable future.
