There has been an ongoing argument as to when Christmas Eve really is. Some say it is the night of Christmas, which is wrong, it is the night that STARTS Christmas, in other words it is the night before Christmas. The reason that the night before Christmas is Christmas eve stems from Christianities Jewish roots, after all, Yeshua ben Yosef was Jesuss Hebrew name and he was a rabbi. The Jews believe the day begins at sunset as did the Early Christians. Remember that the Early Christians were Jews that believed that mashiach had come. They practiced a form of Christianity almost identical to Judaism. It was not until long after the Birth of Christ that things began to change and develop into modern Christianity.
