There has been much talk about parking issues in and around the High Street in recent months and years. A recent question to Telford & Wrekin Council has confirmed that there are in the region of 800 parking spaces in the Town, all of which are free of charge. The issues may not be the number of parking spaces but the turnover of the spaces. Enforcement is the legal responsibility of the police force. They confirm that parking enforcement is not a priority for them. The Town Council has for a number of years asked Telford & Wrekin Council to take on the resposnibilty for parking enforcement, progress is frustratingly slow. If you think parking restrictions should be enforced then we need to hear from you. You can either write to/e-mail the Town Council or contact Telford & Wrekin directly through their web-site. It is our understanding that Telford & Wrekin Council are not keen to pursue taking on parking enforcement as there is little evidence supplied by residents of Newport. telford.gov.uk
