There have been a lot of new members to MindBanged recently, and we are happy to have you. We love that you like to explore new ideas and are willing to go through the mental rabbit hole that some ideas may present to you. Your thinking has provided the group a lot of different perspectives that we were not exposed to previously. That’s fantastic, and we encourage the sharing of ideas and perspectives. However, we have noticed that some of the new members (and a few of the older ones) have been so convinced in the correctness of their ideas that they have presented them in an abrasive manner that establishes an “us v.them” mentality or that implies,“Im right and everyone else is wrong.” Sometimes it shouts, “what’s the matter with you for not seeing this?” MindBanged is not about figuring who is right or who is wrong; it is about figuring out what is right while doing it without the ego attached. Talking to people in such a way that belittles them for not agreeing with you or not immediately seeing your perspective is not what MindBanged is about. Instead, MindBanged is about presenting ideas, giving facts so people can think about the ideas and allowing them the opportunity to think the idea through and to discuss it with each other in a civil manner. There aren’t many places in the world or on the web that encourage humility, but MindBanged is one of those places. Remember, your ego is not important. If someone disagrees with you or doesn’t understand, it’s okay. Life goes on. Also, if you see a post or topic that doesn’t interest you or is one that you may find taboo, then simply skip it. No good can possibly come from entering a thread in which your only intention is to personally attack others or belittle their ideas. So, to all the new members here, we welcome you, we are glad you are here, but please leave your egos at the universal door, and together, we can enlighten and learn from one another.
