There have been several enquiries about the change of government - TopicsExpress

There have been several enquiries about the change of government in Australia and what this means for visa applicants. "Do I need to lodge as soon as possible before the rules tighten up?" asks one query. At present, there are no announced changes for migration policy. We do not yet know who the new Minister in charge of migration will be. While the tone of the recent election (and several previous elections) at times seemed anti-migration, Australia has a skills deficit and an ageing population. Over the last two decades, whether it was a Labor- or Liberal-led government, whether perceived public sentiment was pro- or anti-migration, the government continued to issue visas for skilled migrants. I see no reason for this not to continue. We hope the new minister will re-visit recent changes to the 457 visa and amend the legislation for the better. Those unfortunate enough to require refugee visas may experience additional hurdles. If you are hoping to apply for one of the visas in this class, please get in touch for further advice. If and when migration policy changes are announced, we will post details here. If you require any further information, please feel free to leave a message in the inbox.
