There is a GREAT misunderstanding about what net neutrality is all - TopicsExpress

There is a GREAT misunderstanding about what net neutrality is all about - it IS MORE ONEROUS REGULATION that will not just stifle innovation, it will flat line it. There is no lack of highway supply as compression technology takes care of that. You pay for overnight mail - it costs more than second day or ground - that is what they will take away with this misleading nomenclature of net neutrality. I started out as a telecom analyst in 1983 - one of the first investors to usher in & tout the worth of wireless technology in 1984 – when just about every smart brain thought it a scam or a fad. In 1987, post the stock market crash when most were licking their wounds, I wrote the first and the definitive investment research report calling for the coming revolution of telecom. I began to work on de-reg of telecom in the late 80s under Bob Doles proposal. What came through in the Clinton Admin was anything BUT DE-regulation it was entrapment that ensured the failure of start ups of new communication technology. Once deregulated I consulted with Congressional staffs and the Telecommunication Committee on the progress of competition and the growth of the Internet so I do have some experience under my belt : The Telecommunication Act of 1996, along with Greenspans import of the Asian Tigers financial crisis of 1997 into the U.S. by beginning a policy of over-easy money supply, is what in fact CAUSED the dot-com bust of 2000. So now Obama wants to do even more harm. In a way I am not surprised because it is a stance born out of FDRs administration that used the fear and hopelessness of the “Great Depression” to usurp immense power of the federal government way more than what was ever deemed appropriate. So now we come full circle to an administration that attempts to use executive orders to bypass congress and make this republic a dictatorship is dangerous. On a philosphical basis, the whole point of the Internet was that it was a C-change, it was a box-breaker, it was the means by which we liberated ourselves away from burdensome and heavy bricks & mortor. We extinguished time and distance with the Internet. It allowed us to enter a brave new world. So why on earth would we EVER allow our highway to personal freedom be ruled, managed and opposed by old world brick & mortor regulations - regulations of utilities that were suppose to be too expensive to replicate and have more than one. The Internet is a being comprised of multitudes - like the ocean made up of a zillion billion drops of water. No one entity will ever be able to control it - - EXCEPT if we allow a government to. NO - We must work to continue to REMOVE onerous government control over liberty and good old fashion Yankee ingenuity. The time has come to stop allowing ourselves and by definition our country to be DE-valued on every measure of the word. A great place to start is to demantel the yoke of burdens federal regulation and utility mindsets have places on economic vitality. Starting with dismissing “net neutrality” is a great place to start. GREAT op/ed this morning that speaks to the issue and more. online.wsj/articles/andy-kessler-the-department-of-the-internet-1415665771
