There is a bit of an electioneering going on in Canada. Case in - TopicsExpress

There is a bit of an electioneering going on in Canada. Case in point, Conservative MP Jason Kenney. Mr. Kenney is the Conservative point man with Canadas various ethnic communities all across this nation. Mr. Kenney has used this access to raise funds for his personal riding in Calgary from communities in such places such as Toronto. Is this right? Would this system not put election contenders and citizens in Mr. Kenneys riding at a disadvantage? Would this not mean that Toronto now has a say in Mr. Kenneys Calgary riding? This is a trend that is happening more and more across this nation. Nothing is more appalling than the current state of affairs in British Columbia. In BCs last election, Premier Christy Clark famously charged BC taxpayers to fly to Calgary for a fundraising dinner which included many from Albertas oil sector. To make matters worst and even more infuriating, BC saw campaign contributions come in from outside of Canada. BC currently has no law barring foreign campaign contributions which allowed money from Texas to go into the BC election. BC also does not put limits on how much money corporations can contribute to political parties. Is it not a valid point to follow the path of the federal system which states that money from unions and corporations have no place in campaigns? Would it not make sense to say that candidates can only raise money in the province where they are running? Bobby C Critically Thinking Canadian
