There is a closeness, an energetic bond, between who we are and how we appear. By energetic, I mean that it can be visualized as well as experienced directly, and that there is something between the two that is vibrant, relational, and dynamic. By energetic, I mean that it can be embodied as well as alienated – that it must feel as well as cognitively grasp, that it must discern as it is discerned, and surrender as it is seen. There is a subtle Shakti and sweet elixir in this marriage and harmony. There is a becoming and a taste of what it means to live one’s own unique and precious life. What is it that stifles this sensitive and spontaneous expression within us? Who or what is the thief of our joy? Is it a mistrust of instinct, or a disgrace of the feminine? I don’t know how it ebbs and flows, only that where devotion and discipline meet is a care taking and hosting of the divine within our minds, our bodies, and our trembling souls....
