There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuels veins whilst He hung upon that horrible instrument of torture the cross of Calvary to atone for our sins. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:5, 6. We desperately need the cleansing blood of Christ applied to our sin sodden hearts in order for us to be totally purified from its awful defilement. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. Psalm 51:2; Ezekiel 37:23. What do we truly desire God to do with our sin sodden lives and are we courageous enough to submit ourselves completely into the hands of the Almighty? And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:11, 12.
