There is a gear on those to keep them at a certain speed, especially in high winds. If it is super windy, that gear will lock up (kinda like the breaks on your car) to keep it from spinning really fast. The gear will literally start smoking to keep the blades at the set speed, which causes a fire. At VERY high speed, the blades can break and fly off in all directions, shattering the entire structure in the process. Think about one of those blades flying across 68!
