There is a global movement taking place on agriculture bringing about informed awareness on commercial farming. There is much debate between the voices of the people of humanity and the supporters of corporate agriculture. In particular, the GMO debate boils down to these two direct questions. Do we the people of humanity want the science, system, and products of GMO’s? Are we the people of humanity stuck living our lives as passive observers accepting everything that is created and integrated into our lives? It is my point of view that the majority of the people of humanity do not want the science, system, and products of GMO’s. It is my standpoint that the born human rights to health and information of the processes of commercial agriculture be respected through the labeling of all GMO products. Humankind possesses a natural ability to adapt, observe, learn, apply, and reinvent its surroundings to work for their desire, sustainability, and progress. This is called reason and from reason humankind developed science to create more efficiency in the demands of daily routine work. Science is involved in a perceptual enterprise. Not in primarily gaining knowledge however, knowledge is a byproduct of science. Meaning, the scientific method is only exact to the capacity of the sensory technologies ability to observe and measure. Therefore, the byproducts of knowledge obtained from science will always be subject to scrutinization. That is the law of science. Our marvelous day and age would not be possible without science. However, history shows that science has been wrong at times and for this reason it is important to always question the methods and results obtained from science. There are established systems in place designed to produce a verity of desired results. Infrastructures, corporations, ecosystems, and leadership are a few examples of existing systems that make our modern life possible. Infrastructures produce transportation for individuals, products, communication, and information. Corporations produce money, products, and services. Ecosystems produce necessary conditions of air, water, and food required for humanity to exist free of charge. Even leadership is a system that produces results in every aspect of civil life. The list of examples goes on but the point to be made here is that established systems play a vital role in how we interact with one another and the environment. It is important to remember that there is always a new system that can be built to replace an old system that has served its purpose or that is no longer desired by the voice of the people. Let’s face the honest reality of modern life and admit that it is only made possible through the science and established systems producing products required to achieve the status of standard living. Products are not inherently bad or good. They either work for the voice of humanity or they do not work. No one is powerless in making changes in the way capitalism impacts our daily lives and the ecosystems. For instance, money is a representation of individual voice and when that money is spent purchasing a product, it is like casting a vote saying, “I approve this product.” The more products bought, the more the established system producing the product grows as well as its impacts upon humanity and the ecosystems. The freedoms, rights, and powers to change or create new product producing systems are within the ways we spend our money. In conclusion, there is a strong voice from around the world speaking together as one saying, “We the People of Humanity do not want the science, system, and products of GMO’s.” This voice is no more uninformed then the knowledge produced from scientific method is uninformed to the total of reality. This voice stands for a sustainable, balanced, biodiverse, environmentally safe system of agriculture. This voice says that everyone is born with natural rights given to all by life to health and information on the foods purchased. To withhold information is to rob knowledge and freedom of choice. We the people deserve to have our rights respected through the proper labeling of all GMO products.
