There is a grave shortsightedness when someone who is obviously of darker and “colored” skin professes a desire to be “colorless” as though the issue is somehow the color of your skin. This opposed the inherent supremacy scale that is buried and ingrained within American society, politics, and even the justice system that historically and currently does not paint a very comforting picture if you are a Black male living in America. The statistics say that somewhere around one in three African American males can expect to be in jail or prison within their lifetimes, compared with one in five Latino or Hispanic males and one in eight White males. The question here is which of my identities is to take precedence over the other? Why should they?
