There is a line where the vision of a positive outcome or a workable compromise to a local issue should remain in focus while the negativity needs to have a factual, constructive flow from citizens as to be heard instead of pushed aside. Thats the line I think I ride and fall short at times. I think our politicians feel attacked instead of realizing any dialog is good step because it shows people becoming engaged in local governance. Dialog demonstrates peoples’ perception of the situation whether the perception is accurate or mostly inaccurate, its up to the leadership to engage it. In the system of local government we have today, where does that happen? In a post back in March, Tina Hunt said that this is the end of business as usual in Corona. She said, “With the internet in place and public mediums like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Blogs, this is the beginning of a new era of visibility and the general public is more informed than ever before. Our politicians no longer have the luxury of getting in office and ignoring the people.” This site runs on the steam of average citizens posting. Jean Ardaiz Gonzales takes the time to link city agenda documents and post video from city council meetings. It’s up to us to read, watch, discuss, inform and engage each other.
