There is a link between the destruction of our forests/mountains - TopicsExpress

There is a link between the destruction of our forests/mountains in Sta. Cruz and Masinloc, Zambales by greedy miners and the public official-collaborators and the catastrophic flooding in many barrios and the centers of the towns. We, the former residents of these towns, living in the United States, Canada, and other countries around the world must unite to prevent the Zambales provincial government, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, municipal governments, and other government agencies from issuing mining permits in our towns. We must write senators, congressmen, governors, and municipal mayors that we are opposed to further mining that leads to the destruction of our mountains, rivers and streams, mangroves, forests, agricultural farmlands, mango and coconut plantations, and seashores. Alumni of Santa Cruz Academy ... wherever you are, we should do something about this huge problem.....so our beloved towns will not turn into a wasteland. We dearly love and cherish Sta. Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palawig, Iba, Cabangan, San Antonio, San Marcelino, San Felipe, Subic, Olongapo City, Casrtillejos, and other towns in our province, Zambales. We should act today by writing letters to government officials, get involved by contacting Manila and provincial newspapers, radio and Television, show opposition by using the Facebook, social media, pick up the your phone and call to our kababayan and friends, send emails to former townspeople and present residents. Those with video cameras and/or your cell phones can take moving shots of the damages that miners had done to our natural resources and to our own people in the town and villages....their health condition and the terrible consequence to their source of income...the lands that they till and farm to produce rice, vegetables, livestocks, fruits and root crops and that ungodly cutting of trees/timber which wrought havoc to the soil, the erosion, the death of freshwater fish and other aquatic resources AND the GREAT FLOODS our people experienced the past three days. These flood never happened in the history of our towns. And the most outrageous effects ...... the health and well-being of our people, the environment that must be protected at all cost. Bert D.
