There is a porpular adage in the East of Nigeria that says; kill Mbaise man first before a snake(serpent) in your house. The bible confirmed that the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made; the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field. [Genesis 3:1,13] With deeper thought and concern to the situation; It is JESUS that commanded his people: be ye therefore wise as serpents (Matthew 10:16); the same He gave power to tread on lion and the cobra and the serpents and scorpions and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19, Psalm 91:13). Mbaise is a region and a people located in Imo State, southeastern Nigeria. Set in the heart of Igboland, it includes several towns and cities. The name Mbaise was derived from five cities: Agbaaja, Ahiara, Ekwereazu, Ezi na Ihite and Oke Uvuru. The Mbaise Slogan is Seat of Sages; which means having or exhibiting wisdom and calm judgment. Mbaise are notably the best examples of an Igbo group claiming autochthony and rejecting many migratory histories about their origins. Inside Mbaise is cited a Community called Ndigbo that has claimed that the entire Igbo community must have originated from there. Iam; Proudly Mbaise.
