There is a saying that the only thing constant in life is change. Well, if you havent noticed, we have embraced that quote here at the Hut. As you know, our Nurse Practitioner Quan took a position to be closer to her family. Because the State required approval of her replacement, we changed the way we practiced. We continued to provide labs, reduced clinic days, conduct referrals, and work with our patients to get them their medications. Our new Nurse Practitioner, Jaschandria Kiki Bailey is now on duty and we are regularly holding clinic again. Jaschandria is a resident of Jonesboro, Louisiana. She received her BS in Nursing in 2003 and her Masters in 2012, while also serving in the military. She received her Post-Masters this year from Grambling State University. She is excited to a part of this very important community ministry. A nurse with us since the beginning of the Health Hut, Rhona Treadway, has also taken a position closer to her home. Sad to leave our Health Hut family, both Quan and Rhona will continue to work with the Hut as needed. We support them in their new careers. Although relocating to Baton Rouge, co-founders Dr. Lacayo and Lisa Lacayo will also continue to remain involved with the Hut. And now for one last change: One day a month, at least to start, the staff at The Health Hut will begin to support the local Health Unit staff. Look for us to be there the third Thursday of every month! This means we will not be conducting clinic on that day in Simsboro. Be assured, The Health Hut will continue to provide primary care to uninsured residents of Lincoln Parish well into the future. To schedule an appointment, call 318-513-1212.
