There is a specific reason why Allah chose to mention Solat and Zakat in succession in Al-Baqarah [2:43], and in other verses in The Quran. Ma shaa Allah! These are the two acts of worship that will help us cleanse back into purity whenever we dirty ourselves with sins we know or do not know every day, be it at work, school, home or anywhere. How great is His Mercy upon us, the Mercy that exceeds His Wrath that most of us take for granted? We can never be free from evil but as long as were still living and breathing, the doors of repentance remain open, in shaa Allah. Yesterday, an Ustaz mentioned that we call ourselves Muslims but we do not practice what Allah and His Prophets commanded. He added that this is a form of hypocrisy. We care less about the ingredients contained in the food we eat every day and we do not take heed if someone (regardless of what religion he is from) gives a sound advice. We enjoin the good and forbid evil but all efforts done are for the eyes of other men and not for Allah. We eat the flesh of our Muslim brethren and we poke fun at those who take their Deen seriously. We mock our Imams and scholars without realising that they might just be Allahs chosen, beloved ones although their actions might appear not to our liking. Many of us have the misconception that Islam is all about logic. In a debate, we might think that by being logical, were arguing in favour of Islam. Always remember that even the Quran is a miracle and it does not come into existence based on logic and this makes up the Six Articles of Faith (Rukun Iman). We need to believe in the Faith before we can practice The Five Pillars of Islam. Let us make efforts in learning and then giving back the knowledge by sharing with others because Dawah is the Ummahs responsibility. In shaa Allah, more frequent updates from TISP!
