There is a strange culture of trashing your idols. Several emails, notes and comments on the question... was Robert Trias a real deal? Is the White Peacock an authentic kata? Robert Trais, as well as Pachivas, and Keppel-sensei blazed the path for so many. Long before affordable International travel, video tapes VHS or Beta... Internet or Goggle... they initiated so many on the path of Karatedo. Is Shuri-ryu an authentic system of Ryukyu Karatedo... in the mid 1950s when USKA was formulated... Okinawan Karate was just coming in their own. Ranking, associations, concept of tournaments... were all very vague. As for the stories...learning Karate on Hill number ? While bombs explode around you...? The truth and romantic lore... is part of Budo. I am very sceptical, but sincerely I still still want to believe.
