There is an urgent need for more secondary school places in Sutton - TopicsExpress

There is an urgent need for more secondary school places in Sutton by 2017 for the growing numbers of young people in our primary schools. Greenshaw High School has applied to the Department of Education (DfE) for funding to build a new mixed comprehensive secondary school in the Borough of Sutton. By applying direct to the DfE for money from the free school budget Greenshaw can bring extra and much needed funding into the Borough to help provide the school places that will be required. Greenshaw has produced an information leaflet to seek the support of parents and have set up a page on the school website with an online form for people to register their support for our proposals. As part of the application process for Free School funding, Greenshaw will be required to establish the support of parents, in particular those with children currently in year 3 and 4 who will be the first to be able to, if they so choose, attend the new school, and also younger children who may attend the school in future. The easiest way to show support for the proposals is on the school website at greenshaw.co.uk/190/new-secondary-school. Please take a look! Also today Greenshaw is holding a public meeting tomorrow at 7pm at The High School to explain its plans and answer questions. This is a good opportunity to learn more about the proposals.
