There is concern about more than 340 Somali students who got scholarship from Iraqi government to join universities in the Arab country. Youth activist Mohamed Ibrahim the chairman of Centre for community awareness “CCA” has called upon the federal government to ensure the follow of the students who are set to travel to Iraq soon saying there is danger that Islamic state may recruit some of them. The director of education Ismail Ahmed who spoke to Dalsan has said there is nothing to fear about since the Iraqi government has guaranteed the security of the students while in Iraq. Most of the students who are expected to study medicine will be based in Kufa which is considered as peaceful and not affected by ISIS and coalition fighting. Though destabilized by sectarian violence between Shia and Sunnis instigated by 2003 Iraqi invasion, the government of Iraq has not hesitated to help Somalia. The oil rich government of Iraq recently donated 1 million US dollars to the federal government of Somalia on its reconstruction efforts. More on dalsanradio
