There is good in all of us... However... I do prefer to work - TopicsExpress

There is good in all of us... However... I do prefer to work with people who respect others as much as they demand respect for themselves, and whose word is as secure as a contract. Those who will listen to you ~ when you try to explain that setting your sound system where THEY want may be problematic with sound invasion for other establishments close by.... Rather than blaming you when that proves to be the case and becoming personal and rude in the process. Knowing your job, your capability and being honest ... Is NOT pushy.... It is being professional ... And ethical. You are in big trouble when a person gushes about you one moment... And tries to harm you behind your back personally or professionally by what they say... to justify their own behaviour... The next breath they take ... Placing blame or guilt where it is not deserved, when they constantly move the goal posts ... Is simply exhausting and unacceptable ! I try hard to see the good in people, when I work with anyone I do my best to work hard, help when I can.. Be honourable and fair. I do listen... However, I cannot always agree. At 57 Im entitled to have my own voice and opinion. In 37 years I have worked with thousands of venues and clients ... I have done my shows within a mutually agreed criteria suitable for these venues. Usually with great success and benefit for myself, my bookers and venues. You cannot have 100% success ... There will always be bad nights, some unsuitable gigs, people who are afraid of your success etc... The same as a good restaurant will get complaints re their food ...even when it is good.. You cant please everyone.... But mutual trust is essential. Being allowed to actually do your job to the best of your ability is also good! Im aware of the pressures, problems, safety and sound issues... ( I worked at carlsbro sound so understand about sound, and frequencies)... I bend over backwards and go the extra mile to make concessions, and work with my clients... But I cannot in all sincerity allow myself to be bullied, stomped on to where Im afraid to go to work, afraid to speak when theres a preventable issue, unfairly blamed, personally or professionally harmed.... Respect is mutual.... Not just one way. I work WITH a venue happily to create what they want .... I care about the staff and our jobs... The law. I declare my earnings and pay tax and my government says I may work in ANY European country... But I am not going to work in unstable situations with people who project their own emotional blackmail and fear on others when there is no need whatsoever. A work agreement is not a weapon to be used as a punishment. If I hear any further nonsense, lies or malicious attempts to destroy my credibility ... I WILL name and shame! Rant over!
