There is growing dissent in Tattooland. Its been there for a while but it seems that its only now is it really being voiced en masse. So in a slightly on-topic, slightly off-topic status, here is where you will find me next year, and the reasons why - Firstly, and for the most part, I will be in my studio with my neatly arranged inks, my wifi, my everything exactly where I like it to be and my nice house just up the road with my wife, our cat and our hedgehog. On a few occasions I will venture out into Tattooland and I will go to these places - On the 28th of February and the 1st of March I will be at the Tattoo Tea Party in Manchester. I work this one for a couple of reasons, its put on by someone I call a friend and a great number of my friends will be there and I like to see my friends. On the 11th and 12th of April I will be at the North Lakes Convention in Carlisle. I work this one because Ive done this one for a while and Ive always managed to get work here. Also, its put on by a friend of mine and a few of my friends will be there. On the 16th and 17th of May I will be at the Liverpool Convention. Again, mainly because of the friends that will also be working it that Ill get to spend time with. On 25th and 26th of July I will be swinging over to Cardiff for the Cardiff Tattoo and Toy Convention. Its put on by one of the nuttiest, bestest blokes ever and involves Tattoos AND Toys. How could I not, oh, and a whole passel of my friends will be working it. And finally, on the 22nd and 23rd of August Ill be at the Robin Hood Tattoo Festival over in Nottingham. Again, put on by a friend and has a whole bunch of my friends working it. And that is pretty much it. Sensing a theme? I work shows that my friends are also working. Ive always said I would never do more than 6 a year, and certainly never do more than 1 a month. Ive got a studio to run so I simply cannot afford to go galavanting all over the country. Conventions just dont have the gravitas that they used to so I use them to catch up with friends that I dont get to see anywhere near as much as Id like. I am officially done with all the Bollitics (see what I did there?), I just like tattooing and hanging out with my mates.
