There is growing opposition to intervention in Syria here and abroad. Today the House of Commons in the UK was involved in extensive and well considered debate on the issue as it relates to potential UK involvement. Any strike by the UK has been successfully delayed by an emergency recall of the Parliament to debate any and all resolutions and amendments for intervention of any sort. I watched a couple hours of this debate myself. Votes to come in the UK Parliament fairly soon, but most seem to be demanding the UN investigation be allowed to run its full course. In the U.S. a growing number of Congressmen are demanding the same sort of debate, most pointing out the Constitutional requirement for such debate, especially in the absence of any direct national security threats from Syria. In both the U.S. and the UK, there is widespread admission and concern over the fact that it is NOT KNOWN with anything like reasonable certainty that the Syrian government was responsible in any way! Absent such certainty, it is absurdly insane to assume Syrian government culpability and to act on such an assumption with an attack which could, in the end, lead to loss of control over existing chem. weapon stockpiles, AND potentially lead to WW III, and a likely NUCLEAR exchange as well! We the People need to step up the pressure for AT LEAST a debate on this issue in Congress. larouchepac/node/27914
