There is just to much hypothesis going on with this event, a plane has gone, generally that means it has crashed, we are basing a lot of the investigative power on one radar ping, we are also using satellite data from the engines, almost all of us have experienced some of the GPS systems data anomalies at one point or another, and I have to observe that we live in very paranoid times. That paranoia may be leading us to some very inaccurate conclusions here. This is the first calm bit of journalism that I have read about it so its worth reading. Pilots facing anything from an onboard fire to sudden decompression have procedures, the loss of radio and transponder contact can happen because the first move is to switch off the electrical busses in the plane, then find out the source of the fire. They then turn back or towards the nearest workable runway in these circumstances, sadly none of them made it this time. Its a far more believable scenario than piracy or hijacking, or alien abduction. Sadly we may never know, and I am often wrong but I just feel that our international paranoias and emotions are really getting the better of us here and effecting the investigation. Draw your own conclusions.
