There is no art form more powerful than the biography. To briefly - TopicsExpress

There is no art form more powerful than the biography. To briefly vicariously progress through ones life is the most universal of experiences - mostly because the human experience differs very slightly from one to another - the unwavering and consistent effects of time on the psyche and physique hold true across culture and (paradoxically) time. Thus the great authors have always implicitly understood that all fiction is biographical. In fact, the creation or performance of any great artist is biographical. It must be. It is this deeply personal subjectivity that is the whole beauty of individuality in expression. What is particularly poignant about biographies is that they all start and end the same way. A person is born, lives a life, and dies in (reading) a matter of hours, and as always in death, the suddenness with which it is over is always startling. There is time for a brief reflection where a reader compares him or herself against the deceased subject, and picks out and internalizes the parts that will make an impression in the readers life, and briefly ponders what his or her own imaginary biographer is writing... The ultimate aim of art is introspection.
