There is no enemy on the spiritual path. Often I see people looking to vilify the enemy and locate the villian that must be overcome on the pathway to enlightenment or ascension. Some proclaim, its the mind, we must not think and we must remain present at all times! while others say, its the ego! We must conquer it and banish it from our being!. Others still curse darkness, fear, the government or the system. This search for the villian storyline is a reflection of the collective consciousness, demonstrating the blame and denial we partake in by refusing to look within and accept responsibility over ourselves. The truth is, there is no enemy on the spiritual path. Yes, there may be some things we encounter that are extremely out of balance as we venture within, but these things are not bad or wrong. A healthily functioning ego keeps us grounded, keeps us here, and is a vehicle of service to others.The darkness (forgetting) gives way to the light (remembering).
