There is no good time to post this so Ill just say whats on my mind in lieu of the recent MX accident that claimed another MX Brothers life... No Track Employees have Ever Asked Me or My Son what our skill level was upon arrival at ANY track. Ill bet you... none of you have ever been asked either! In light of the latest MX tragedy this makes me think of three very important things that All Beginner MX Riders need to be asked and to know. Rule #1 should be - Employees asking everyone upon their arrival to the track what their skill level is, as well as how many times you have been on an MX Track so you can be informed of potential dangers....Of course a lot of the track owners know the regulars...... A simple Is there anyone new to MX with you? would do... These simple questions would help to weed out potential danger to all MX Riders. I asked questions like this for years at a ski rental shop that I work at. The questions we asked were protocol as well as a mandated safety precaution so that we could do everything possible as employees to keep new skiers as well as experienced skiers from breaking their legs or worse.... The reasons for Rule #1 is Rule #2 ....... Rule# 2- Know what Hold Your Line means before you ride. An explanation of Hold Your Line can be given in seconds free of charge by a track employees if need be . Rule#3 - Split Practice Sessions .... This is a no brainer especially if you have ever watched Beginner D through,C,B or A Classes run....The very first time I took my son to a track it was immediately evident to me that he could be run over easily and killed. It was only then that I was instantly prompted to ask a friend of mine How do you keep from getting run over? He had a simple explanation that I immediately passed onto my son before his wheels ever touched that track. HOLD YOUR LINE!!! is what he said and in 30 seconds explained it completely. And he also said there are Split Practice Sessions used to avoid injury... Simple as that!!!... What makes me mad is that I had to ask someone... Actually, A Simple Sign that says WARNING!!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU RIDE!!! with MX Basics is all you need. It can be posted at the entry point on every track worldwide just like at Snow Ski Areas where hazard signs are right next to the lift ticket booths and at the tops of every slope, or at the beginning of every roller coaster entrance line in the world... Therefore Its my opinion even if it is just an official sign, that only when these 3 Basic Rules are Mandated at All MX Tracks as well as any precautions that need to be known, that lives will be saved and unnecessary losses be prevented. It also goes without saying- All Riders Need to have at least Basic Safety Equipment!!!!....If you really want to do something for the sport of MX then BECOME AN ADVOCATE!!! If you see a potential hazard on the track, Speak Up! Try to get track owners to abide by some pretty simple rules! Lets get these signs in place!!!....No one is going to shoot you down for trying to save lives.... Questions? Comments??? Rob Bachlet Admin@ MX BROTHERS on FB. https://facebook/groups/MXBrothers/
