There is no place like home. The past 11 days were an amazing journey of joy! Absolute JOY! And while I was a tad disappointed with my marathon performance, the lessons I walked away with that day taught me more than I ever imagined when I left Dallas just a few days earlier. It’s hard to feel sorry for yourself when you see a young woman fighting stage IV breast cancer struggling to walk a marathon, a feat she had run many times before. She was not looking for my sympathy—in fact that was not her mission—her mission, to live the life you have today--she was living the life she had that day. We aren’t guaranteed perfect race conditions—we aren’t guaranteed a life of roses—we aren’t guaranteed much, but we are guaranteed joy, if we choose joy in our lives! I am so blessed and honored to run in one of the most iconic races in the world—My goal was to do the best I could—and I did just that per the conditions I was given (and if you know me, you know I LOVE the cold—NOT—hehehe)—I promised myself to take time to high 5 the kiddos along the path—to read the signs, to talk with the other runners. to thank the volunteers and the people who came out to cheer us all on. It was unlike any other race I had done before and an experience I WILL NEVER FORGET. The things I did miss-- Brewed iced tea Mexican food No brawls outside my window at 0400 Peace and quiet--AKA no jackhammers, sirens, horns blaring Wide open spaces My bed Home cooked food My sweet Brooklyn And most importantly—MY FRIENDS!!! I would not be where I am today without all the love, support and encouragement of my many friends, both far and near and for that I am BLESSED BEYOND WORDS!!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING MY FRIEND!!! That trumps a race any time!!! xoxo HAPPY WEDNESDAY MY DEAR FRIENDS—GO EMBRACE YOUR JOY!
