There is not as much danger of the cults and false religions, as there is to the false gospel, that is spreading across the land in many churches today! Hear the words of the Apostle Paul in Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. It is easier to recognize the cults and false religions, than it is making a differentiation between Pauls Gospel and the gospel that is being preached in many churches today. I refer to the gospel of easy beliefism, which says, simply believe. The devil believes that! The word believe in the Gospel is to trust Me(Jesus), adhere to Me, rely on Me. This error is an over emphasis on grace and presents salvation on terms not found in the Bible. A further error is salvation without repentance. There is no recognition of mans sinful condition before God, no repentance and Godly sorrow, as is taught by Pauls Gospel. Biblical repentance is a definite thought, word, deed and habit which is know to be wrong. It is not sufficient to feel pangs of remorse, or to make some kind of apology to God. Fundamentally, repentance...is an inward change of mind and attitude toward sin which leads to a change of behaviour...Do not be too greatly influenced by the customs and conventions of Christians you may know. Go by the clear teaching of the Bible and by the prompting of your conscience...When Christ puts his finger on anything, give it up. - Dr. John Stott God totally opposes sin. Take a favourable attitude toward sin and God must take an unfavorable attitude toward you. - George Smeeting Preaching in such a way to produce genuine and deep conviction, so that sinners are smitten down before God, is almost entirely unknown today. We are given broad-gate invitations and still expect to see narrow-road Christians! We need to learn the old time revivalist, who knew how to apply the Word of God in such a way that sinners would break down in shame before God in conviction and confession of their sins and lost condition. Utterly confounded and stripped of every excuse, the sinner would go at any length to justify God and condemn himself. But most of those who come forward today in our churches are not so; they are so unbroken that they hold their heads high and look the preacher in the face, with hardly any sign of real repentance or any sense of shame. There may be a few tears of remorse and a temporary fear of hell, but this is not repentance. Real repentance is a change of mind. Sin once loved will be hated. The old way of life lived for gratification of self will be totally and permanently renounced and the whole being committed to God for future full obedience. My deep conviction is, that the sinner that does not repent; is a fearful and dreadful thought! HOWEVER, what is most fearful and damning is these preachers and pastors, that compromised the truth of the Word of God and sinners ended in hell; together with those who preached a false gospel!
